Action Learning Projects

Facilitate and supervise Action Learning Projects on Management Development Programmes for the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).
  • Action Learning is the process of learning through experience.

  • It has been used with great effect at companies such as Boeing, Johnson and Johnson and GE globally - as well as Standard Bank, SABMiller and the BANKSETA locally.

  • An Action Learning Project is based on a real business challenge or opportunity at an organisation.

  • ALP’s provide unique opportunities for learners to practically apply theory covered in their studies at their organsations – and to document the process.

  • The process requires that each syndicate produces a formal business report on their specific topic - and then delivers a final presentation to a panel consisting of their senior management and GIBS representatives.

I was appointed as the Action Learning Project (ALP) Coach at Pretoria University’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) for Management Development Programmes at the following organisations:
  • Distell (2010, 2011 and 2013)
  • MMI Holdings (2015, 2016 and 2017)
  • Knysna Initiative for Learning an Teaching (KILT) (2019)
  • Old Mutual Ltd (2020)
